The Curtain

By Shirine A. Hossaini

Life goes by so fast

While I am standing still

Nothing left but "past"

I’m living by His will

Dying to forget

That I could ever love

And live in such regret

Get the meaning from above

My world is now so small

No room to move around

Every time I fall

I see my feet are bound

I wonder what it’s like

To freely make a choice

Ride a train or a bike

Or sing in a loud voice

I miss, I love, I feel

Though I always try to hide

Pretend my heart is steel

Never want to be a bride

The future is uncertain

Only time will tell

What’s behind the curtain

Is it heaven or is it hell?
